A 11 year old boy finds a dead body in a stream near the Dorcan Technology College at 3pm today (27 Sept 2010). The river was swarming with school children before the emergency services arrived, believed to be called by a 16yr old New College student.
The children were throwing objects at the body before teachers intervened, and pulled the body out of the water to check for life signs.
The man found was fully clothed, in his 40s, and paramedics had suggested the body had been in the water for some time.
Policed cordoned off the area, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:25pm.
Dead man been named as Robert Wilshire of Galsworthy Close.
A postmortem examination by a Home Office pathologist today concluded that 47-year-old Mr Wilshire died as a result of head injuries.
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of murder, a 53-year-old and a 48-year-old.
